Glen Dale Shipman, 85, of Kingsland died Jan. 1, 2016

Glen Dale Shipman, 85, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away Jan. 1, 2016. He was born to Floyd Emmett and Neva Maude (Cowart) Shipman on April 21, 1930, in Abernathy, Texas.
Mr. Shipman was a plumber by trade but also was in the concrete business for a time. He enjoyed being a jokester and life. In his spare time, he liked to fish, collect guns and go to garage and estate sales.
He was always there for family, friend and others. He was a giver.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred of Kingsland; daughters, Charlene Brown and husband David of Round Rock and Cindy Rushing and husband Joe Ray of Lubbock; sons Ldon Shipman and wife Amy of Liberty Hill, Dennis Shipman of Lubbock and Johnny Holder and wife Chris of Odessa; Linda Lancaster of Granite Shoals and Gwen Sisk of Kingsland; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Marion Shipman of Austin and Billy Abernathy; sisters Burl Jean O’Briant of Lubbock and Donna Blaylock of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of more than 40 years, Bettye (Thomas) Shipman; son Larry Shipman; brother Carl Shipman; and sisters Berniece Woods and Jen Lee Loper.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m. Jan. 6 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008. A funeral service is 10 a.m. Jan. 7 at the funeral home with interment at 2 p.m. at Capital Park Cemetery, 14501 Interstate 35 North in Pflugerville. The Rev. Ken Barrington will officiate.
