Nawasa Carter Sallee died Nov. 2, 2015, at the age of 81. Visitation is 11 a.m. at Edgar & Jenkins Family Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet, (512) 756-4444. A graveside service is noon Nov. 7 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burnet.
She was born in Hood County (Granbury), Texas, on Oct. 28, 1934, and graduated from Granbury High School. She married Adrain D Sallee on May 20,1955, and lived in Austin, Houston and San Antonio.
Nawasa enjoyed teaching children’s Bible classes and vacation Bible School. She retired from the North East Independent School Administrative Office in August 1999.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Adrian; brother Herman Allen; and son James Clifford “J.C.” Sallee.
She is survived by daughter, Genoa Nann Stewart; son-in-law, Jeff Stewart; son Rex Allen Sallee and fiancé Felicia Middleton; and grandchildren Joshua D. and Jackson D. Stewart and Jordyn and Skylar Sallee; and nephew Bill Sallee.
