CAPE to answer parents’ asthma questions at Oct. 6 program
FREDERICKSBURG — What do you do if your child has asthma or you think they do?
The Children’s Asthma Prevention Education (CAPE) program is designed to help answer parents questions and provide them with tools to help in the future. Parents of children diagnosed with asthma or those who think their child might have asthma are invited to attend the CAPE program presentation Oct. 6 at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, 1800 N. Llano St.
The presentation starts at 5:30 p.m.
Organizers emphasize that the event focuses on educating parents about asthma action plans and encouraging partnerships between parents, physicians and health care providers to keep children healthy.
Registered nurses Erika Benfield of Cornerstone Clinic and Carrie Culpepper of Hill Country Memorial Medical Group are leading the presentations and discussions.
They will discuss: understanding your child’s asthma plan; questions to ask your health care provider if you child does not have an action plan; identifying the signs of asthma; recognizing what triggers an asthma attack; and managing your child’s asthma symptoms.
The program will include a question-and-answer session.
“It’s normal to have questions about asthma, your child’s medicine or their equipment,” Culpepper said. “We are here to answer those questions and to help parents and caregivers understand your child’s action plan.”
Call 1-866-421-4264 or go to hillcountrymemorial.org/events to RSVP.
Hill Country Memorial, Methodist Healthcare Ministries and Methodist Children’s Hospital are sponsoring the event.
