MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School sophomores and staff did everything correct when it came to the English II End-of-Course STAAR test, but a box with 298 exams is apparently missing.

Texas Education Association and Pearson officials notified the district May 22 about the situation and that the school would not receive its assessment reports for the English II EOC STAAR. Pearson is the company responsible for designing, distributing, tabulating and reporting the results of the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness exams.

“The TEA and Pearson are working furiously to locate the tests,” said Bruce Peckover, the Marble Falls Independent School District spokesperson. “If you can imagine all of the tests from across Texas go to one place, you can see it’s easy for a box to get lost.”

Peckover said the district is waiting on TEA guidance for what the next steps are regarding the English II EOC STAAR results.

“We just want to make sure the students are treated fairly and equitably,” Peckover said.
