BURNET — Double Eagle Entertainment producer Damon Beierle is excited for big crowds and great performers at Haley Nelson Park.

The 2015 Burnet Summer Concert Series kicks off May 16 with a free concert by regional cover band People’s Choice.

“For the whole series, I’m as excited about the opening bands as I am about the headliners,” Beierle said. “Come early. You don’t want to miss the really good openers that we have for all the shows.”

Cory Morrow headlines a June 6 show with Prophets & Outlaws. Whiskey Myers comes to Burnet on July 25 with the Cody Bryan Band opening. The series closes Aug. 15 with Wade Bowen and special guest Judson Cole Band.

All shows start at 7:30 p.m. with gates opening at 6 p.m. Tickets for the June 6 concert are $10; the final two are $15. Admission for kids 6 and younger is free. Haley Nelson Park is located just off Texas 29 west at 301 Garden Trails.

“It’s the first time for Cory (Morrow). Whiskey Myers came in 2013 but got rained out, so we didn’t get to hear them,” Beirle said of the headliners. “Wade Bowen came to Bluebonnet Festival in ’08, but it’s been a long time.”

Beierle said the smallest crowd from last year’s concert series was 1,400 people and the largest was 1,700. And while he’s hoping to top 2,000 at a show — or all four — this year, the park has plenty of room to accommodate twice as many.

“I tell people to bring lawn chairs. It is BYOB; however, you can plan on having dinner out there with food vendors and stuff for sale,” he said.

After the People’s Choice show, Beierle said the next three artists are some of the biggest Texas music names in the business.

“They’re all singer-songwriters, singing what they write,” he said. “I’ve seen them all before. They all put on a fun, enthusiastic live show that entertains the crowd.”
