John F. “Sonny” Taylor passed from this life May 1, 2015. He was born Jan. 26, 1928, in Austin, Texas, to John and Vedena Hundley Taylor.

Sonny spent many years in the field of education, using his master’s degree from Southwest

Texas State University. With 35 years at San Antonio North East, he was both a teacher and a

coach. He went on to become a middle school principal, high school principal and, finally, retired in 1986 as an assistant superintendent.

A graduate of Marble Falls High School, Sonny was a “legendary Mustang.” He was responsible

for scoring five touchdowns against the archrival Burnet Bulldogs. Sonny was honored at his 85th birthday party by his wife, Rosemary, along with friends traveling from Dallas, San Antonio and Fredericksburg to celebrate and reminisce. Sonny was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma; and his parents.

Survivors include his loving wife, Rosemary; son, Tom and wife Sharon; daughters, Angie Taylor Rubottom and husband John and Sherry Eckhardt and husband Pete; sister, Jane Wagenfuhr and husband Ray; nephew, John D. Andrews; niece, Betty Lou Daine and husband Gary; grandchildren, Sam Taylor, Becky Taylor, Sonny Eckhardt, Jeane Eckhardt and Taylor Rubottom; and stepchildren, Niki and Dixi and granddaughter Kyndal.

A memorial service is 1 p.m. May 7 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Marble Falls.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church School, 1803 West FM 1431, Marble Falls, TX.
