August Wilhelm Staats, 83, passed away peacefully at his home in Llano County on March 20, 2015. He was born on June 7, 1931, to Alwin and Gertrude Staats.
August grew up in Gillespie County with his parents and brother Eddie. A longtime resident of Llano County, he moved to Llano as a young man and worked as a ranch hand, fence builder, truck driver and bulldozer operator.
August was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sons Paul and Joshua.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cathy; sons Jay and wife Dawn, Jared, Simon and wife Elizabeth and James; grandson, Tyler; granddaughters, Shelby and Evangeline; and great-granddaughter, Raylee.
A memorial service officiated by Pastor Reitmeyer was March 22 at St. James Lutheran Church in Llano.
