Raymond Burgess Williamson, 86, of Spicewood dies Oct. 3, 2014

Raymond Burgess Williamson, born July 31, 1928, in Driftwood, Texas, to Buddy and Alice Williamson, passed away Oct. 3, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
Ray spent his childhood on his family’s ranch and farm. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Korean War and a respected businessman in Austin, opening American Floors on South Congress Avenue in 1965. Ray sold his business in 1985 and built a farm and ranch in the Ozark Mountains, where he spent some of his most joy-filled years.
Ray retired to Spicewood, Texas, in 1995. It was here that he became a respected member of the Spicewood Church of Christ. Ray was a loving husband, father, Papa and friend. He taught his kids, by example, how to work, how to laugh and how to have fun, which are the greatest lessons a father can give.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Williamson; children and daughters-in-laws, David Williamson, Damon Williamson (Cathy Williamson), Gaynell Blanchard, Donald Blanchard (Blanca Blanchard) and David Blanchard (Sonia Blanchard); 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Instead of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Ray may be made to cancer research or Scott & White Hospice.
