Donald Arthur Schlicke, 80, of Spicewood, Texas, passed away Aug. 31, 2014. Don was born on the Jan. 1, 1934, to Edwin and Clara Schlicke of Milwaukee, Wis.

Don is survived by his beloved wife, Edith of Spicewood; children Mark Schlicke of Spicewood, Kim Garza of Spicewood, Scott Schlicke and wife Della of Del Valle, Craig Schlicke and wife Candy of Spicewood and Debra Allred and husband Daniel of Cedar Park; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Clara Schlicke; daughter Sue Ann Schlicke; brother, Richard Schlicke; and sister, Marilyn D. Bors.

Don graduated from Marquette University and married Edith Marie Schramel in Milwaukee on May 7, 1955. After graduation, he was employed in the automobile finance industry. Six children were born to Don and Edith. In 1968, the couple left the cold of Wisconsin and moved to Austin to be closer to Edith’s parents.

In Texas, Don was involved in automobile sales and real estate and was self-employed until retirement. In 1970, they moved to Spicewood in the Lake Travis area.

Don had a wide range of interests in all sports and outdoor activities. He coached various youth sports and, over the years, became the sports “Guru” to his children, grandchildren and all other children. He loved his family and church as they were his guiding principles.

A memorial service is Sept. 27 at Lakeside Beach Community Center conducted by the Rev. Samuel L. Hose.
