Joel Burnell Mayfield, 81, of Kingsland passed away July 29, 2014, in Albuquerque, N.M. He was born Feb. 27, 1933, in Sinton, Texas, to Rufus and Ruth Mayfield.

Joel was a minister in Granite Shoals and a carpenter for many years. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and listening and picking to music in his free time. Joel also enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his puppy dog, Taco.

Joel is survived by his sons, Randy and wife Sherrie Mayfield of Houston, Buddy and wife Karen Mayfield of Granite Shoals and Anthony Mayfield and wife Lori of Hext; daughters, Renee Dean and husband Gary of Marble Falls and LaNetta Chance and husband Tom of New Braunfels; and sister Virginia Brey of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by the children’s mother, Velma Mayfield; sisters Evelyn Nelson and Lillie Mae Cobb; and brothers, Donald Mayfield, Paul Mayfield, Kenneth Mayfield, Robert Mayfield and Rufus Mayfield.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Aug. 1 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. A service is 2 p.m. Aug. 2 at the funeral home with Richard Vandeventer officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
