FROM STAFF REPORTS

HORSESHOE BAY — Are you a fella who enjoys a bit of crooning? Maybe you loved singing in the high school choir, but those days are in the past. Maybe you still sing in the church choir but are looking to get more time on stage.

Whatever your reason, the Highland Lakes Men’s Chorus might be the place for you.

The chorus is a group of men who enjoy singing for the community, and it’s gearing up for its 16th season of doing just that. The first performance isn’t until Sept. 11, but the group is looking for men who are interested in joining in the fun.

The choir’s season stretches over nine months with between 18 and 20 performances.

Its repertoire includes patriotic, seasonal, spiritual or just plain fun music appropriate for any occasion. No experience is necessary, though some chorus background is a plus. And you don’t have to know how to read music.

The main prerequisites are you should enjoy singing and having a good time.

The first practice of the season is 4 p.m. Aug. 25 at The Church at Horseshoe Bay, 600 Hi Ridge Road.

The chorus director is Garry Kesler, and Linda Boatman is the accompanist. Men interested in singing with the chorus should call club president Frank Kloke at (830) 385-2514 or show up for any Monday practice at the church.
