OBITUARY: Robert L. Eifert, 74, of Kingsland dies July 4, 2014
Robert Eifert, 74, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away July 4, 2014. He was born to Howard F. and Dorothy M. (Barlow) Eifert on Jan. 15, 1940, in Bloomfield, Neb.
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years on the aircraft carrier the USS Intrepid as an aircraft mechanic. When he completed his service, he worked as an aircraft mechanic in Nebraska along with selling Moorman’s Feed and working as a farmhand in Decatur.
On March 17, 1972, in Blair, Nebraska, he married Mary Stangel. They purchased Stangel’s from Rudy Stangel in 1972 and made truck covers until the business was sold in 1993. At that time, they moved to Kingsland, where they started Eifert’s Custom Covers. They sold that business in August 2006 and officially retired.
Mr. Eifert is survived by his daughter, Ellen Taylor and husband Michael of Fountain, Colo.; son, Thomas Eifert and wife Teresa of Box Elder, S.D.; three granddaughters, Karissa and Kalin Eifert and Ashley Taylor; brothers Don Eifert of Fort Worth, Charles Eifert and wife Cathy of Tullahoma, Tenn., Jim Eifert and wife Kathy of Ponca, Neb., Eldon Eifert of Arkansas and Michael Eifert of Kerrville; sisters, Betty Graziano of Kerrville, Marilyn Eifert and husband Dick Goins of Albuquerque, N.M., and Carolyn Nolzes and husband Douglas of Stanton, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Eifert; parents, Howard and Dorothy Eifert; and brother William (Bill) Eifert and his wife, Melba.
A memorial service is 1 p.m. July 12 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008. The Highland Lakes Honor Guard will assist in the ceremony. An online registry may be signed at www.putnamcares.com.
