OBITUARY: William David Alman, 81, of Spicewood dies May 30, 2014
William David “Mr. Bill” Alman, 81, of Spicewood went to be with the Lord on May 30, 2014. He was born April 11, 1932, in Grindstone, Pa., to Arthur and Emma Alman.
Bill attended Brownsville High School, where he was a drum major. He was a member of Gideon’s International and the Onion Creek Masonic Lodge, past president of the Oatmeal Association and deacon emeritus of Spicewood Baptist Church.
He worked in the coal mines in Pennsylvania from 1948 until 1950, when he joined the U.S. Army Air Force, serving for four years until he was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant.
He married the love of his life, Maxine Wall of Spicewood, on Feb. 6, 1953. They raised two daughters: Nancy Alman Penry of Victoria and Lee Ann Alman Kincheloe of Austin.
He worked for Sears for 34½ years as an assistant service manager, an installation manager, a customer service manager, a manager of plumbing and building and a building engineer.
He lived in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, Austin, Bertram and Spicewood.
Bill was active in ranching in Bertram, Burnet and Spicewood and enjoyed watching and caring for his cows and new calves until the end of his life. He also enjoyed serving in his community. His humor was enjoyed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 57 years, Maxine Wall Alman; brothers Edward Alman, Lonnie Allman, Lester Allman and Clyde Allman; brothers-in-law Douglas “Johnny” Wall, Stillman Wall and Charles “Red” Cofer; and sisters-in-law Helen Alman, Bonnie Allman, Doris Wall and Alice Cofer.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Nancy Penry (David) and Lee Ann Kincheloe (Robert); grandchildren, Christa Shuman (Clint), Clinton Sandberg (Laura), Richard Kincheloe and Stephen Kincheloe (fiancée Kelly Goodwin); and great-grandchildren, Courtney and Colby Shuman. He also is survived by his sister Sharon Glova (Paul); brother Robert “Bob” Alman (Mary); sisters-in-law Lillian Wall and Elizabeth Alman; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service is 10 a.m. June 3 at Spicewood Baptist Church in Spicewood with the Rev. Bill McCormick officiating. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be at Rockvale Cemetery at a later date.
Deacons of Spicewood Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.
