MARBLE FALLS — The Faith Academy of Marble Falls boys basketball team began District 4-2A play with a convincing 51-25 win against Temple Holy Trinity on Jan. 10.
The Flames (6-6, 1-0) led 10-6 after the first period and then exploded for 20 points in the second quarter.
“We were a little sluggish,” Faith head coach Randy Denton said. “I thought we were playing well, but we weren’t making shots and were impatient. We rebounded better in the second quarter.”
He believes the Flames’ defense led to better offense, and it started with blocking out.
“We said if they were going to beat us, it would be behind the three-point line,” Denton said.
That didn’t happen as Faith outscored Holy Trinity 15-6 in the third period for a 45-20 lead.
Denton said the win was how the team wanted to begin the second part of the season.
“In our first district game at home, we got our first win,” he said.
