Burnet boys basketball opens district with win vs. Liberty Hill; girls fall to Lady Panthers

LIBERTY HILL — The Burnet High School boys basketball team defeated Liberty Hill 52-47 on Jan. 10.
Making the result even more impressive was the Bulldogs earning the victory in the Panthers’ new gymnasium to start District 8-3A play.
Burnet took a 13-7 lead after the first period, but Liberty Hill came back in the second quarter to trim the deficit to 24-23.
The Bulldogs outscored the Panthers 28-24 in the second half for the win.
Burnet head coach Roy Kiser said his team has begun each game’s half very well throughout the season, so he was not surprised by the starts.
Liberty Hill made eight two-pointers and was 25 of 30 from the foul line; Burnet made 16 two-pointers and was 14 of 24 from the free-throw line.

LIBERTY HILL — The Burnet High School girls basketball team lost 53-37 to Liberty Hill on Jan. 10.
The Lady Panthers took a 10-3 lead in the first quarter that went to 23-13 by the half. Liberty Hill maintained at least a nine-point through the end of the third period.
