Burnet football clinches postseason berth with 42-28 win against Lampasas

LAMPASAS — The Burnet High School football team is on its way to the Class 3A Division II playoffs.
The Bulldogs (7-3, 3-2 in District 8-3A) defeated Lampasas 42-28 on Nov. 8.
Burnet will face Alvarado in a bi-district championship at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Tiger Field, 600 Lake Road in Belton.
Against the Badgers, sophomore running back Brock Foster led the way, scoring all but one touchdown.
He capped the opening drive with a six-yard touchdown run. Austin Huff added the extra point to make it 7-0.
After the Badgers took the lead, Burnet quarterback Derek Kiser hit Darius Johnson for a 20-yard touchdown to tie the game at 14-14.
Lampasas added a touchdown, but the extra point was blocked, for a 20-14 halftime lead.
Foster added a 12-yard touchdown to regain the lead 21-20 then scored on another 12-yard touchdown run for a 28-20 Bulldogs advantage with 10 minutes left in the contest.
The Bulldogs called for a pooch kick and recovered it on the ensuing kickoff. They gave the ball to Foster, who ran in for a seven-yard touchdown for a 35-20 advantage.
Kiser found Foster for a 16-yard pass to extend the lead 42-20.
The Badgers added another touchdown with 3:22 left.
