Burnet baseball team’s season ends in first round against Fredericksburg
DRIPPING SPRINGS — A one-game, winner-take-all contest worked out well for Fredericksburg at the expense of the Burnet High School baseball team.
The Billies defeated the Bulldogs 5-0 on May 4 to advance to the area round of the Class 3A playoffs.
The Bulldogs ended their season with a first-round loss for the second consecutive year.
Fredericksburg senior pitcher Josh Flores picked up the win. Burnet athletic director Kurt Jones said Flores was consistently throwing 90 mph during the contest.
“He was on the other night,” Jones said. “He throws a good breaking ball. He had us off balance all night.”
The Bulldogs also had some mishaps that allowed innings to continue, and the Billies took advantage, he said.
“We had our share of mistakes on the field,” Jones said. “It wasn’t a real sharp night for us.”
