BURNET — The Burnet Middle School seventh-grade A team defeated Brownwood 25-19, 23-25, 25-16 to earn its first win of the season Sept. 5.
Coach Holley Hafley said the Lady Pups gained a lot of confidence by winning the first set. And it looked like it was going to be sweep until Brownwood found some momentum in the second game.
“This put us in a third game fighting tooth and nail for every point at first, and then, we started to pull away,” she said. “I could not be more excited about a great start to the season. I am looking forward to seeing great things from this group of young ladies.”

Burnet 7th B volleyball sweeps Brownwood 2-0
BURNET —The Burnet Middle School seventh-grade B team defeated Brownwood 25-20, 27-25 to start the season Sept. 5 with a win.
Coach Tamura Hurst said the Lady Pups gained confidence by winning the first set but had to fight off a stubborn Brownwood squad for the sweep.
“It was exciting to see the hard work pay off, with all the girls playing hard and hustling for every ball,” she said. “And I look forward to what this season will bring for this group of young ladies.”

Burnet 8th A volleyball sweeps Brownwood 2-0
BURNET —The Burnet Middle School eighth-grade A team defeated Brownwood 25-14, 25-23 for its first victory of the season Sept. 5.
“I was very excited to see what these young ladies would bring to the court after the hard work they have put in the last two weeks,” coach Holley Hafley said.
In the second set, the Lady Pups struggled with passing, which allowed Brownwood to keep the game close.
Hafley said the front row ended several rallies with hits or blocks for the win.
“I am proud of these girls and the effort they displayed on the court,” she said. “I am excited to see what this season holds for these young ladies. I know they will do great things.”

Burnet 8th B volleyball loses to Brownwood 1-2
BURNET —The Burnet Middle School eighth-grade B team fell to Brownwood 25-22, 20-25, 20-25 to start the season Sept. 5.
Coach Tamura Hurst said the match came down to momentum. The Lady Pups had it to begin the contest, while Brownwood took it in the second set.
And though Burnet started the final game strongly, Brownwood regained momentum to earn the win.
“The Lady Pups worked hard but, in the end, had a few mental mistakes that put us behind, and we were unable to recover,” Hurst said. “Even though we lost our first game, the girls have put in a lot of hard work, and I am looking forward to seeing great things from this group of young ladies.”
