OBITUARY: Herman Edward ‘Red’ Taylor, 85, of Kingsland dies April 27, 2013

Herman Edward “Red” Taylor, 85, of Kingsland was reunited with his loving wife Carmen to share their eternal lives together on April 27, 2013. The fourth child of Roy C. and Ann Bird Taylor, Herman was born June 11, 1927, in Bertram.
Herman served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II and provided for his family as a very talented farmer, rancher and business owner of the Texaco service station in Bertram.
He loved hunting, fishing and serving his Lord as a volunteer with the Highland Lakes Church of Christ food pantry, where he became friends with many in the Kingsland community. He served as a deacon of Highland Lakes Church of Christ and was passionate about the World Bible School Ministry.
Herman was seldom seen without a button-down shirt and was known for his perfectly styled red hair with its natural finger waves.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carmen; sisters, Katie, Dovie and Ida Mae; brother Howard “Jack”; nephew Larry; and niece Mary Lucille.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Barbara Taylor of Melbourne, Ark., and William “Billy” and Wanda Taylor of Alton, Mo.; daughter Joyce Taylor of Flower Mound; and daughter and son-in-law Sherry Wills and Ken Love of Kingsland; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 31 nieces and nephews; and brother and sister-in-law Leon and Linda Taylor of West Plains, Mo.
Contributions may be made to the Cherokee Children’s Home in Cherokee.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. May 2 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A funeral service is 10 a.m. May 3 at Highland Lakes Church of Christ in Kingsland with Joe Winnett officiating. Pallbearers are Clifton Akin, Charlie Akin, David Salyer, Cody Salyer, Adam Garcia, Jimmy Lee Hall and Tyler Taylor.
