BURNET — Burnet Middle School boys coordinator Randall Alford announced he is retiring after a 44-year career as a coach and a science teacher.

“I never wanted to ever stop doing what I love to do and hoped somehow to do it forever,” he said. “Each team and season has always given me so much motivation and thanks for whatever we were able to accomplish.”

Alford first came to the Highland Lakes in 1989 as the offensive coordinator of the Marble Falls High School football team, leaving the school in 2000. From there, he went to Lampasas High School to coach for four years before spending the last five years at Burnet.
