MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School softball team earned its first District 25-4A win of the season after beating Leander Vandegrift 10-0 on March 5.
“I think it’s good to see (a win) happen without having to bunt,” Marble Falls head coach Tino Salazar said. “You don’t have the opportunity to bunt and still score runs.”
The Lady Mustangs started the scoring in the first inning as junior catcher Amanda Thomas hit a solo home run, sending the ball 200 feet. That made home run No. 15 for her as a Lady Mustang.
Senior first baseman Hayley Fishbeck added a solo home run in the third, about 195 feet over the left wall.
In all, Marble Falls has hit 16 home runs on the year.
Marble Falls added three runs in the fourth and five in the fifth, earning four before the first out was made.
“They’re seeing the ball well, and we’re getting it from different spots in the order,” Salazar said about his hitters.
Meanwhile, freshman pitcher Makenzie Carpenter pitched all five innings and didn’t allow a run.
“We worked on arm speed over the weekend,” Salazar said. “She threw harder today.”

Governing Law This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts located in Burnet County, Texas.
Entire Agreement This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding between the parties and supersedes all prior agreements. Modifications must be in writing. By submitting content, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by this Agreement.
