Marble Falls baseball wins tough games at Hill Country Classic

KERRVILLE — The Marble Falls High School baseball team got exactly what coaches wanted during the 21st annual Hill Country Baseball Classic on Feb. 28-March 2.
The Mustangs earned a hard-fought 6-3 win against San Antonio Madison, a Class 5A member, and came back for a 3-2 win against East Central.
Against Madison, Mustang pitcher Hunter Dooley began the contest and “went four strong innings,” Marble Falls head coach J.T. Blair said. Pitcher Cody Goodman finished the contest.
The Mustangs scored five runs in the top of the fifth.
AGAINST MADISON: Offense – pinch hitter Saul Guzman hit the game-winning single in the bottom of the fifth inning. Defense – winning pitcher Garrett Winslett (2-0)
AGAINST EAST CENTRAL: Offense – Mike Richardson recorded two hits in the top of the fifth inning and helped the Mustangs score five runs; doubles – Joey Blackledge 1, Domenic Patterson 1. Defense – winning pitcher Cody Goodman (3-1)
RECORDS: Marble Falls is 7-2.
