OBITUARY: Dudley Holland, 93, loved animals, Mother Nature

Dudley Howard Holland, 93, received his hard-earned and much-deserved wings Feb. 1, 2013. He was born Dec. 4, 1919, to Marshall N. and Bessie M. Holland. He was the fifth of eight children.
He was a loving husband, daddy, grandpa, great-grandpa, gather-in-law and grandfather-in-law. He was a proud World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corp. He was loved by so many and respected by all. He adored by his three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and loved sharing time with them.
Our favorite memories of him are sharing his love of all animals that inevitably became his pets. His latest love was his goats. He was most comfortable surrounded by Mother Nature. He was a steward of the land and animals. He was a remarkable 93-year-old man who still could build fences and herd goats. He beat the odds many, many times over.
He was a fighter, and the Lord allowed him to go home on his own terms. Even to the end, he had priorities that had to be taken care of before he could let go. Once he knew his checklist was complete, he went to meet his beloved Grace. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by his loved ones. He went to the Lord with grace and dignity. He passed away on the 14th anniversary of the death of his wife of 48 years. They are truly together forever. He was so loved and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Claudie Mae Holland, Marshall Jay Holland, Malcolm Franklin Holland, Anna Ruth Wilde, and Edna Lois Mischer. He also was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Grace Marie Bagwell Holland.
Dudley is survived by siblings Donald Gene Holland of Midland and Fred Hays Holland and wife Billie Jean of Marble Falls; daughters Marianne McEwin and husband Ray of Odessa and Donna Kay Sralla and husband Ronnie of Marble Falls; grandchildren Christopher Bishop and wife Tara of Grand Prairie, Timothy Sralla and wife Krissy of Marble Falls and Lisa Cathey and husband Derek of Andrews; great-grandchildren Briley Kay Sralla, Hunter Cathey, Parker Bishop and Kyndall Grace Cathey; brothers-in-law J.A. Bagwell and wife Edwyna of Poncha Springs, Colo., and Robert Bagwell of Hazlehurst, Miss.; and sister-in-law LaTrelle Bagwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
