A fire severely damaged a Granite Shoals residence on the evening of Friday, Oct. 23.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Nobody was harmed in the blaze, but at least two people fled the structure when they saw smoke according to Granite Shoals Fire Department Assistant Chief Joshua Nugent, who served as the incident commander during the fire.

First responders were toned out to the scene, a home on Kingsdown Drive in Granite Shoals, at around 5 p.m. on Friday and the fire was out within an hour according to Nugent. Firefighters stayed on site to monitor the situation until around 11 p.m.

Several agencies assisted the GSFD in the firefight, including Marble Falls Fire Rescue, the Horseshoe Bay Fire Department, Marble Falls Area Volunteer Fire Department, Marble Falls Area Emergency Services, and the Granite Shoals Police Department.

While the home is still standing, it sustained significant fire damage throughout its interior and exterior, according to Nugent. The family involved in the blaze was put in contact with the American Red Cross for support following the incident.
