The Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District will move into its new home on May 21 after a months-long process of purchasing and renovating its new office building.
All operations will move from its downtown office at 225 S. Pierce Street to 303 Bluebonnet Drive in Burnet, including all CTGCD board meetings.
Some services may be paused throughout the week of the move.
“As the move occurs, there may be interruptions in our ability to answer phone calls and respond to emails,” reads a statement about the move. “Water quality testing will be suspended from May 20th through 22nd.”
The acquisition of the new headquarters was set into motion during a CTGCD board meeting in September 2025 when board members approved a $950,000 purchase of two parcels of land. The board also moved to allow the district to seek out a loan of $475,000, to be paid back over 15 years, to fund the purchase.
Since the purchase was completed in October, the board has approved a plethora of items on the building’s renovation, security, and furnishing to ensure it is ready to operate on move-in day.
The CTGCD has also mentioned at previous meetings the possibility of future development at the site, as the headquarters building only takes up a fraction of the space spanning the two lots of land which the district purchased.
The district is led by a five-member, elected board of directors and a hired general manager. Together, and with the help of two additional full-time employees, they are responsible for regulating groundwater usage in Burnet County.
