Loneta Lorene Kilman

Loretta Lorene Kilman, 79, of Kingsland, died Oct. 21, 2010. She was born to Clarence E. and Ollie Mae Nelson Orrick Feb. 12, 1931, in San Antonio.
She faced illness and death the same way she faced life — with grace, kindness, a quiet dignity and always thoughtful of others.
At 15, she met her sweetheart and husband-to-be John Carlysle Kilman Sr., whom she married three years later. They celebrated their 61st anniversary June 3. During their years together, they lived in Texas, Hawaii, Alaska, New Mexico and North Carolina, but considered the Lone Star State their home.
She played piano, loved to sew crafts, make quilts, cross-stitch and was the world’s greatest cook.
In addition to her husband of Kingsland, survivors include children Deborah J. Spier and husband John of Harvest, Ala., Marcus David Kilman and wife Tere of Davenport, Fla., Lani Ulibarri and husband David of Cleburne, Katie Kilman of Kingsland, and John Kilman Jr. and companion Troy of Austin; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and sister Ana Lee Lofley of Dennison.
A celebration of her life by family and friends is Oct. 23 at the Orrick Homestead home in Kingsland.
