Marble Falls native Amber Westerman recently released a new single, “Barefoot Days,” now available on all major streaming platforms.

The song was inspired by a major life change for Westerman, who moved from farming in Hawaii to city life in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I was spending 40-plus hours a week barefoot in the soil,” Westerman told DailyTrib of her time working as an organic farmer, growing fruits and vegetables.

She said returning to a fast-paced society was a culture shock and took a toll on her mental health, which ultimately became the inspiration for the new release.

Music has long been a dream for Westerman, who said she has wanted to pursue it since she was a little girl. She was inspired early on by her grandfather, Bobby Northcutt, and remembers making music with him at an early age. She fully committed to pursuing music professionally in her early 20s.

Westerman hopes “Barefoot Days” offers listeners a moment of relief and connection.

“I hope it brings a smile to my listeners faces and takes them away from their stressors,” she said.

Now living in South Austin, Westerman enjoys being closer to the Highland Lakes area and remains active in the local community, including helping with Marble Falls’ annual music festival, Fiesta Jam.

Westerman said she looks forward to announcing more shows in the coming weeks, along with additional projects in the works. Updates and more music can be found on her artist page.

She is the daughter of Marble Falls City Councilor Richard Westerman and Cheryl Westerman, better known locally as “Ms. Lollipop”.

“(We are) so proud of our daughter, Amber Westerman,” wrote Richard following the release of Amber’s single. “Chasing her dreams for so many years with a sweet soul and big heart. Watching her pour herself into her music, her stories, and her purpose has been one of the greatest joys of our lives. Keep dreaming, keep creating, and keep shining, sweet girl. The best chapters are still ahead.”
