Here are the Oct. 17 matchups:

LAST WEEK: Burnet 35, Marble Falls 14
In Week 8, Marble Falls (3-4) takes on Stephenville, last season’s District 4-4A Division I champion and a strong title contender this year at 6-0. The Mustangs are coming off a tough loss to Burnet (3-4) in the Battle of Burnet County.
“Kudos to Burnet,” Marble Falls head coach Keri Timmerman told KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune’s Ben Shields. “We’re not going to make excuses. They played a complete game, they made mistakes, they capitalized on some of ours.”
Timmerman noted that he saw an incredible number of penalties in the Burnet game, which he believes had some level of impact on play, something that Burnet’s head coach Ben Speer also acknowledged. There were about 27 penalties called total, according to Speer.
This week, Marble Falls still has a chance to make it to the playoffs, but Stephenville stands in the way. The Yellowjackets went 12-2 in 2024 and beat the Mustangs 63-0.
Burnet Bulldogs at Lampasas Badgers
KICKOFF: 7:30 p.m. Friday
WHERE: Badger Field, 300-398 N. Chestnut St. in Lampasas
PREVIEW: Listen to an interview with Burnet head coach Ben Speer in the weekly segment on KBEY 103.9 FM: In the Bulldog Huddle.
LAST WEEK: Burnet 35, Marble Falls 14
Burnet (3-4) battles Lampasas (6-1) on Friday for the team’s second district game of the season. Last week, the Bulldogs won the Battle of Burnet County against Marble Falls.
“Winning on Friday is hard, no matter who you have,” Speer told KBEY’s Ben Shields in a interview. “That was big, and of course, winning a rivalry game, there is so much more that goes into it.”
On Friday, the Bulldogs have a chance at redemption against the Badgers, who won a close 42-38 victory in 2024.
