Mamie Lynn Smith Elsey, 80, formerly of Austin, died at her home in Llano on Jan. 6, 2011.

She was born Dec. 1, 1930, in Austin. She worked in Austin as a homemaker and as a nurse at both Brackenridge and Seton hospitals. After retiring in 1989, she and her husband relocated to Llano.

Survivors include her sons John David Harris and wife Jacquelyn of Goose Creek, S.C., and Lester R. Harris and wife Margie of Spicewood; daughters Joan Thomas and husband Leon of Dripping Springs and Janet Goble and husband Jim of Buchanan Dam; stepson Bobby E. Elsey and wife Mary of Austin; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband John Roy Elsey in 1999.

A graveside service was Jan. 8 at Fitzhugh Cemetery, 11608 Crumley Ranch Road in Austin with her nephew the Rev. Earl Koch officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Scott & White Hospice–Llano or a favorite charity.
