Charles Preston “Charlie” Woods, 57, died Jan. 18, 2011. He was born Dec. 3, 1953, in Burnet to E.P. “Sonny” and Geneva (Withers) Woods. He was a lifelong resident of Burnet and a 1972 graduate of Burnet High School.

He was a self-employed contractor in the Burnet area for many years.  He also was employed by several local contractors.

Since the early 1990s he managed the family ranch and business. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He loved his family and friends and being with both.

Survivors include wife Teresa of Burnet; son Ian Reid Woods of Burnet; daughter Amy Lois Woods of Burnet; sister Karen and brother-in-law Dan Stubblefield of Burnet; mother of Burnet; brothers-in-law Kerry and Crissi Reid of Bertram, Mitch and Tiffany Sonnier of League City, and Larry Sonnier of Orange; sister-in-law Pam and husband Homer Will of Bertram; mother-in-law Lois Smith of Orange; nine nephews; a niece; uncle Alvin Woods and wife Pat of San Antonio; and aunts Phyllis Taylor and husband Leonard of Llano, and Pat Withers of Burnet.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2008.

A funeral service is 11 a.m. Jan. 21 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222, with the Rev. Dr. Ricky Guenther officiating.

Burial will follow at the Burnet City Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Kevin Churchwell, Garry Montgomery, Richard Riggs, Dudley Hall, Sonny Withers and Michael Ringstaff.

Honorary pallbearers include Mitchell Sonnier, Kerry Reid, Homer Will, Dan Stubblefield, Donald Fawcett, B. Ringstaff, Bryan Milliorn, Tommy Puryear and Wayne Castleberry.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Burnet EMS or the Hill Country Community Foundation.
