Sarah Jean Smith, 44, died March 17, 2011, in Austin. She was born in Burnet County on Nov. 29, 1966, and died on March 17, 2011, in Austin.
She lived her life in Bertram.
She was a member of the first Severely and Profoundly Handicapped Class in the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District.
Friendships with her classmates and their families lasted through her life.
Survivors include parents Billy D. and Carolyn (Reed) Smith; brother Ricky Smith and his wife Misty; niece Kylie Smith; grandmothers Lucy Carter, Frances Reed and Nadine Smith; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were March 20 at the Clements-Wilcox Funeral Chapel, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222, with the Rev. Jim Allen officiating. Interment followed at the Mt. Zion Cemetery near the Mt. Blanc Community. A visitation was at the Oatmeal Community Center following the service.
