Martha Hartz “Marty” LaVoy
Martha Hartz “Marty” LaVoy, 79, of Kingsland died April 2, 2011. She was born in Jacksonville, Fla., on May 4, 1931, to Theodore R. and Gladys Hartz Bill.
She was raised in St. Augustine, Fla., where she attended St. Joseph’s Academy. She graduated from Bay County High School in Panama City, Fla., in 1949. She then attended Florida State University at Tallahassee, graduating in 1953 with a bachelor of science degree in social welfare.
She entered the Air Force in 1957 and attained the rank of captain in 1966. She married Orville “Slim” W. LaVoy in July 1972 in Dayton, Nev. He died in 1986.
She was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church of Thompson Falls, Mont., and the Clark Fork Valley Elks Lodge No. 2757 for 15 years.
Survivors include her sister Marie-Louise Bill of Atlanta and longtime friend Bonnie Anderson of Kingsland.
No public services are planned. Inurnment will be in the Bill Family plot in Marianna, Fla.
