James H. Frasier, 90, died July 21, 2010. He was born Dec. 25, 1920, in the Shovel Mountain Community near Marble Falls. He was a lifetime resident of Marble Falls and a graduate of Marble Falls High School.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1941, and served in the defense of the Philippine Islands. He was captured on the island of Corregidor by Japanese forces on May 6, 1942. He remained a prisoner of war until Japan surrendered to U.S. forces August 1945. He was honorably discharged as a corporal of the 4th Division of the Marines.

After serving his country, he returned to Marble Falls and married Dorothy Myers in 1946. They had a daughter and three sons.

Upon returning to Marble Falls, and following in his father’s footsteps, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and being out in the beautiful Hill Country.

He worked as a rural mail carrier for 28 years. A few years after his first wife died, he married Judy Meador April 7, 1990. She lovingly and unselfishly cared for him for 20 years.

He was a devoted Christian, Mason, Shriner and a very active member of the community. He gave of his time and resources to many individuals and organizations.

The local community will miss his participation, leadership and contributions to many organizations. He will be dearly missed by his friends, family and residents. He dedicated himself to make life better for others.

Survivors include his wife Judy Frasier of Marble Falls; daughter and husband Vicki and Joe Schlab of Llano; sons Jimmy Frasier, Jay Frasier, Stacy Frasier and wife Denise Frasier, all of Marble Falls; stepdaughters and husbands Linda and Paul Lucksinger of Dale, and Barbara and Nelson Garrett of Austin; brother Alfred Frasier of Granite Shoals; sisters Louise Holland of Marble Falls and Lillian Wall of Burnet; five grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Sept. 3, 1985; parents Amiel and Lura Frasier; brother Johnny Frasier; and two young siblings who died during childhood, Homer and Lois.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m.  July 23 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373.

A funeral service is 3 p.m. July 24 at Granite Shoals Baptist Church, 505 S. Phillips Ranch Road in Granite Shoals. Internment will follow at Lakeland Hills Cemetery, 4210 Park Road 4.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Marble Falls Senior Activity Center, Granite Shoals Baptist Church, Shriners or a charity of choice.
