Ann Gaushell Montz, 78, of Horseshoe Bay died May 13, 2011. She was born in Canton, Mo., on Sept. 18, 1932, but her family moved to Houston shortly after. She spent most of her life there. In 1996, she moved to Horseshoe Bay.

She was employed by Prudentials’ regional office in Houston in 1952. Over the years, she rose from beginning clerk to supervisor, manager and director. Her area of expertise was solving problems related to staff, productivity and quality at large claim-processing offices and then making a diagnosis and creating a plan of action. She retired after 39 years.

In 1991, she married Jim Montz, a widower. Having not been married before, she rejoiced in having two sons, a daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.

She was a great cook and hostess, and she enjoyed needlepoint, duplicate bridge and reading. She loved people and always was generous with her time helping others.

Survivors include her husband; stepsons Keith and wife Johnna and David;  grandchildren Derek, Taylor and Megan; sister Carolyn Michael; nephew Tom Michael and numerous friends.

A service is 10:30 a.m. May 21 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 201 Dalton Circle in Horseshoe Bay.
