David ‘Dave’ T. Gautier
David “Dave” T. Gautier, 76, of Kingsland, died June 29, 2010. He was born to Claude T. and Sybil (Smith) Gautier Dec. 3, 1933, in Dallas.
He graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton in 1952 and furthered his education at Texas A&M University. On July 3, 1954, he married Nancy McAnally and they had two daughters.
He served in the Army from 1954 to 1956 at Fort Bliss in El Paso. He owned and operated Gautier Truck and Trailer in Hamilton and worked as a toolmaker in Weatherford and San Benito.
He retired in December 1999 and moved to Kingsland in April 2000. His wife died in January 2002. On Oct. 8, 2002, he married Patricia Fleming Shade.
He was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Hamilton, Jaycees Club of Hamilton and a volunteer firefighter for the city of Hamilton. He also served many years as a Little League volunteer coach in Hamilton.
He was a Court Appointed Special Advocates volunteer for seven years and was recently named the CASA for the Highland Lakes Volunteer of the Year. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and especially enjoyed his Thursday’s starter at The Legends Golf Club in Kingsland.
He was a member of Christ Redeemer Fellowship in Granite Shoals.
Survivors include his wife of Kingsland; daughters Julia Schumaker and husband John D. of Santa Fe, N.M., and Stacey Gautier and husband Chris Pritchard of Palmer Township, Penn.; his wife’s children J.D. Shade and wife Felicia of Plano, Kevin Shade and wife Cathy of Carrollton, Joy Clay and husband George of Tom Bean, Brian Shade and wife Debby of McKinney, Kathleen Neely and husband Ken of Johnson City, and Kyle Shade and wife Christina of Seattle; grandsons Merit Schumaker of Madison, Wis., Hunter Schumaker of Santa Fe, N.M., Tyler Shade of Dallas, Josh Clay of Tom Bean, Ben Neely of Kingsland, Trevor Shade of McKinney, Luke Neely of Johnson City and Logan Shade of Seattle; granddaughters Casey Petrillo of McKinney, Marissa Clay of Denison, Sarah Shade of Austin, Laura Shade of Carrollton, Faith Clay of Tom Bean, Morgan Shade of Plano, and Meredith Neely of Johnson City; great-grandson Andrew Petrillo of McKinney; brothers Don Gautier and wife Jean of Temple, Jerry Gautier of China Spring, Bob Gautier and wife Johnnye of Hamilton, and Bill Gautier of Granger; sister Pam Eilers and husband Larry of Pottsville; and brothers-in-law Bob Turner of Whitney and Larry Fleming and wife Jan of Auburn, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Turner.
A memorial service was July 2 at the Putnam Funeral Home Chapel, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008.
