Maebell Dansby Simpson

Maebell Dansby Simpson, 90, died May 24, 2010. She was born Oct. 21, 1919, in Bangs to Mamie (Shaw) and Charles Earl Fitzgerald. She married Dr. Garland Lee Dansby Feb. 10, 1942, and moved with him to Llano in 1953.
He preceded her in death July 2, 1981. She then married Charles Simpson Aug. 1, 1991, in Copperas Cove.
She graduated from Brownwood High School in 1935 at age 15. She went on to graduate from Daniel Baker College in 1938 and attended Robert B. Green Memorial Hospital in San Antonio for medical technologist training.
She received the Llano County Hall of Fame award in 1986 and served as president of the Llano County Republican Women and was a Republican regent from Texas.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Llano and lived in Llano 57 years.
In addition to her husband, survivors include daughter Carol Dansby Rogers of Copperas Cove; son Stephen Charles Dansby and wife Linda of Brookesmith; sister Earlene Fitzgerald of Brookesmith; cousin Paula Patterson and husband Hoke Gracely of Houston; great-nephew Joseph Gracely of Houston; grandchildren Nicole Rogers Wiebe and husband Brian of Lampasas, Tracy Rogers Johnson and fiancé Jake Puda of Katy, Troy Rogers and fiancé Zoey Pelley of Corinth, Kevin Rogers and wife Molly of Houston, Danielle Dansby Howard and husband Cory of Brownwood, and Derek Dansby and wife Brandi of Castroville.
In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Catherine Dansby.
A visitation was May 25 at the Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300.
A funeral service is 2 p.m. May 26 at the funeral home chapel with the reverends Dr. Frank D. Somera Jr. and Rich Lounsbery officiating.
Burial will follow at Llano City Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Troy Rogers, Kevin Rogers, Derek Dansby, Charles Simpson II and David Simpson.
