Linda Fay Reed, 89, a lifetime resident of Llano, Texas, passed away Dec. 4, 2012. She was born on April 19, 1923, to Frances Pauline (Teich) Foster and Oscar Linden Foster in San Antonio, Texas.

Her grandfather was Frank Teich, a sculptor who came here from Germany. He did the World War I monument at the Llano County Courthouse and two statues on the Capitol grounds in Austin.

After being a housewife for 20 years, Linda had to find a job and support herself and her daughter Jean. She and Jean moved to Austin, where she worked at the Capitol until she met Raymond Reed. In 1972, they were married and moved to Llano. She lived in Llano ever since.

Linda was a great mother, grandmother and friend to many. She always asked about her grandchildren and was very proud of all of them. She was a wonderful cook like her mother, Frankie. You couldn’t beat her pinto beans and cornbread. We looked forward to having her homemade rolls on the holidays. She did have a sweet tooth. We would hardly be finished eating when she was cutting the cake.

She loved playing bridge and played until she couldn’t see anymore. She enjoyed playing with people all over the world on the computer. Players would often ask her if she talked as she did not know how to chat back then.

Linda was also very good at managing money. She could take a nickel and turn it into a dollar. She watched financial shows and always knew what the stock market was doing.

If we wanted to know anything about a certain football player, we would ask her. She loved watching football, especially the Cowboys. She never missed a game.

She is survived by her daughter Jean and husband M.D.; stepchildren Don and Gary Reed; grandchildren Dawn and husband Stacy, Michael and wife Kristi, Stacy and husband Kyle and Jonathan, Jaime and Chris; and great-grandchildren LeAnna, Blake, Hallie, Garrett and Brylee.

She was preceded in death by parents Linden and Frankie; husband Raymond Reed; sister Jane; and daughter Judy.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Dec. 7 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. A funeral service is 2 p.m. Dec. 8 at the funeral home with Pastor Gretel Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at the Llano City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Virdell, Kenneth Stuart, Hatch Smith, Keith Bessent, Gary Reed and Tom McWhorter.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Llano, 1105 Oatman St., Llano, TX 78643.

The family would like to thank Linda and all the staff at Walden Court for taking such wonderful care of her for the last four years. We would also like to thank Scott & White Hospice for their great care. It was a blessing for the family to know she was in good hands.
