Kenneth Wayne “Ken” Rea

Kenneth Wayne “Ken” Rea, 75, passed away Nov. 22, 2012, at his home in Kingsland. He was born in Strawn on Jan. 15, 1937, to Harbert and Myrtle B. Kimble Rea.
Kenneth enlisted in the United States Army after finishing high school and was stationed in many places, working as a nurse stateside and in many European countries and Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1977 and continued a career in nursing at Bexar County Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Houston, where he worked in the Cardiac ICU area. He retired from Methodist Hospital and then lived full time in Kingsland at the lake home.
He had been a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Marble Falls since 1995.
He is survived by his wife Bertie Evelyn Rea; son Bruce Rose and wife Faith of Georgetown; and daughter Pamela Lawman and husband John of Pasadena. He is also survived by granddaughter Heather Beran and husband Chris of Fort Benning, Ga.; grandson Chris Rose of Austin; great-grandson Nicklas Howe of Weir; great-granddaughter Sara Grace Beran of Fort Benning; brother J.R. Rea and wife Dollie of Andrews; and sister Donna Curington of Paducah, Ky. Ken is also survived by many other relatives and friends, as well as Bertie’s family, who thought of him as theirs.
A memorial service in memory of Kenneth was Nov. 26 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Danielle Casey officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
