Edith Heine Wilson, 85, a longtime resident of the Bertram/Smithwick/Oatmeal area, passed away Nov. 20, 2012, after a courageous fight with Alzheimer’s. She was born on Nov. 4, 1927, in Smithwick to Richard and Willie Heine.

She married Clifford “C.M.” Wilson on Aug. 17, 1947, in Bertram at First United Methodist Church. She attended school and graduated from Oatmeal.

She was a member of the Bertram Flower Club, volunteered at the nursing home after her retirement as a cafeteria worker at a school, where everyone raved about her wonderful hot rolls and desserts. Her family’s favorite desserts were her chocolate pie, fudge and peach cobbler.

Edith was proud of the accomplishments of her four boys, even though while they were growing up she threatened them with military school. The grandkids were “grand” in her eyes, even though one of her granddaughters liked to play with frogs and once chased her brother and cousin around Mamaw’s house with one. If she had known her great-grandchildren, she would have thought they were great, too.

Edith is survived by her husband of 65 years, Clifford Wilson; sister Pauline Lester of Burnet; sons Lee and wife Shirley of Bertram, Don and wife Ruth of Lake Jackson and Randy and Ricky Wilson of Bertram; grandchildren Tracy Wilson of Georgetown, Julie and husband Steve Wahrmund of Bertram, Vicki and Seth Viddal of Benton, Colo., Rachel and husband Flea Cantu of Lake Jackson, Christina Wilson and Jason Wilson of Lake Jackson and Shelby and Holly Wilson of Lampasas; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Willie Heine; brothers Melvin Heine and Pete Heine; and sisters Ida Mildred, Gaynelle Brinkley and Marguerite Cox.

A graveside service is 10 a.m. Nov. 24 at Mahomet Cemetery in Mahomet.

Arrangements by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222.
