Harold A. Krause was born in Copperas Cove, Texas, on July 15, 1925, and died at his home in Silver Creek outside Burnet on Nov. 21, 2012, at the age of 87.

He was married to Lorene Dillman of Temple, Texas, on Nov. 30, 1952. He died just nine days before their 60th wedding anniversary.

Harold attended Immanuel Lutheran Church School in Copperas Cove as well as classes at San Antonio College.  He was drafted into the Army in 1946 and served in Japan until 1947. He was drafted again in November 1950 and served in Korea with the 45th “Thunderbird” Division until September 1952. He then had a career in civil service in the federal government.

Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen, and a grandson, Kenneth. He also was preceded in death by three sisters (one his twin), his parents and many other relatives. He is survived by his wife, Lorene, sons Alan and wife Pam of Austin and Ray and wife Yvonne of Los Alamos, N.M. He also is survived by grandson Drew and granddaughters Kimberly and Shannon and four great-grandsons. His sister, Lorena Folks of Temple, one niece and five nephews also survive him.

Visitation was Nov. 24 at Genesis Lutheran Church in Buchanan Dam. A funeral service followed with Pastor Wilbern Michalk officiating. Harold lay in state at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove before a graveside service Nov. 24. Pallbearers were Andrew Krause, Jack Johnson, Gary Folks, Rusty Krause, Tim Tognetty and Danny Brakhage. Honorary pallbearers were Milton Weiser, B.C. Gersch Jr. and Larry Denny
