Keen-eyed passersby along S. Water Street in Burnet may have noticed a large building being constructed over the last few months just north of the YMCA, as crews work to bring a new auto parts store to the area.

According to Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filings, an approximately $1.09 million AutoZone is well under construction at 1105 S. Water Street (U.S. 281). The storefront is being built from the ground up, and will be nearly 70,000 square feet once completed.

The city of Burnet Planning Department shared a brief update on the project on Friday, Aug. 21, stating that the AutoZone is still quite some time from opening, but is progressing smoothly.

“Construction continues to progress as scheduled,” reads the update. “Although the project is still several months from completion, staff are already coordinating with the onsite contractors regarding requirements for both the temporary and permanent certificates of occupancy.”
