Bertram is preparing to approve its tax rate and budget in September for the upcoming fiscal year, with spending expected to decrease while the city bumps its tax rate up slightly.

Residents have chances to discuss the rate and budget at two upcoming meetings on Sept. 8 and 22 before Bertram City Council votes to adopt them. The council will take action on these items during the Sept. 22 meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. at Bertram City Hall, 110 E. Vaughan Street.
