Kindergarten through eighth-grade teachers in the Pedernales Electric Cooperative service area can apply for up to $1,000 through PEC’s Educational Spotlight Grants, with applications due Sept. 7.

PEC awards up to $10,000 annually through the program, including approximately 10 grants of $500 and five grants of $1,000 for qualified classroom projects.

“It’s important to listen to the ideas our teachers have and to support them in bringing those dreams to life,” PEC Community Outreach Specialist Kevyn Packer said. “We hope that by investing even a small amount, we can make significant change to enhance student learning and our communities for years to come.”

Grants can be used for classroom supplies and materials needed for specific projects, instructional resources and field trips. Eligible teachers must work in a community within PEC’s service area.

The grants are funded through PEC’s Power of Change Program, which allows cooperative members to round their monthly bill up to the nearest dollar. The program supports nonprofits, educational opportunities in classrooms and financial bill assistance for qualifying PEC members in need.

Winners will be announced in October. Applications are available at myPEC.com/spotlight.
