A missing man was found safe along the Llano River in Llano County on the morning of Friday, Aug. 14, after an hours-long search effort.

According to the Llano County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were toned out to a call at around 12:54 a.m. on Friday regarding a missing man from San Antonio who was camping near Elmer Road by the Llano River.

At the scene, deputies identified the man and initiated a search that involved use of a LCSO drone unit.

At around 7:15 a.m., the drone pilot found the missing man in the Llano River and helped nearby deputies make contact.

First responders with Hamilton EMS evaluated the man as uninjured. According to the sheriff’s office, the man was unfamiliar with the area and became lost after nightfall.
