Ground breaks on major Mustang bond projects

On Tuesday, July 21, work officially began on some of the biggest projects from the $172.2 million bond package approved in 2025 by Marble Falls Independent School District voters. Among them are a massive indoor multi-purpose training facility, new career technical education spaces and renovations, and locker room additions to the Max Copeland Gym.
If everything goes according to plan, the work should be done by September 2027.
- The indoor multi-purpose facility will include half of a football field, track lanes, a new gymnasium, a new weight room, and more, and be available for a variety of programs.
- The CTE expansion and upgrades will include large welding bays, space for construction sciences, cosmetology and barbering stations, class rooms, and more.
- The new locker rooms attached to the Max Copeland Gym will accommodate more athletes and cut back no walk times around campus.
The MFISD Board of Trustees, on Monday, July 20, gave their final approval of a contractor’s $36.38 million guaranteed maximum price for the construction of the three projects.
“For me, it’s exciting to see these projects move from a vision to a reality,” MFISD Superintendent Jeff Gasaway told DailyTib. “It shows the investment of our community in our kids.”
MFISD voters showed their substantial support for all four propositions from the 2025 bond package, which is not only funding these projects, but massive upgrades and renovations across the district.
2025 BOND ELECTION RESULTS
Proposition A: $131.43 million for modernization of facilities and safety/security features
- For—1,852 votes, 75.53 percent
- Against—600 votes, 24.47 percent
Proposition B: $2.2 million for student/staff technology replacement and upgrades
- For—1,846 votes, 75.35 percent
- Against—604 votes, 24.65 percent
Proposition C: $12.51 million for athletic facility improvements
- For—1,636 votes, 66.97 percent
- Against—807, 33.03 percent
Proposition D: $26.05 million for a new, multi-purpose indoor sports facility
- For—1,662 votes, 68.03 percent
- Against—781 votes, 31.97 percent
Marble Falls High School Athletic Director Keri Timmerman expressed his gratitude for the community’s backing of the bond.
“(Passing the bond package) shows the confidence our community has in our athletes,” Timmerman told DailyTrib. “Our community believes in them and it makes them want to make them proud.”
He noted that the incoming upgrades will allow MFHS athletes to train indoors during inclement weather, and allow the school to host seven-on-seven football games, basketball tournaments, baseball tournaments, and more.
The new multi-purpose facility will be built on the site of the current MFHS baseball field. The baseball stadium will be moved across campus, on the east side of the football field.
