The new TownePlace Suites hotel in Burnet is nearing completion, and could be taking in guests by September.

The four-story hotel, located at 1750 Cary Johnson Parkway off U.S. 281, will offer extended stays with in-room kitchens, a pool, and a 3,000-square-foot event space among other amenities.

City Manager David Vaughn told DailyTrib on Wednesday, July 15, that the hotel is expected to open its doors in early September, and will be a significant addition to the city’s tourism.

“The new hotel is a great addition to the community and will allow us to better realize the economic impacts of local events such as the Bluebonnet Festival and baseball tournaments that bring large numbers of people to town,” he said. “The owners of the hotel have been incredible to work with throughout the entire project and we look forward to the grand opening in September.”

As it stands, Burnet only has two major hotels–Comfort Inn & Suites at 810 S. Water Street and Best Western Post Oak at 908 Buchanan Drive–to offer travelers a place to stay within city limits. According to Vaughn, that puts the city at a major disadvantage.

“Currently, due to the lack of available rooms, many people have to stay in hotels in Marble Falls, Georgetown or Lampasas, which results in the loss of business for restaurants, gas stations, and other businesses that could benefit from tourists staying in town,” he told DailyTrib.

With the new TownePlace Suites slated to include nearly 90 beds, that lack of availability should be alleviated.

The project was first introduced to the city in 2023 when developers TEKMAK Development and ARK Hospitality and Development bought 2.76 acres of land from the Burnet Economic Development Corporation for $436,000.
