PEC donates more than 750 toys to local drives

Pedernales Electric Cooperative employees are spreading holiday cheer, having donated more than 750 toys to local families in need across the Hill Country.
The donations, which included 12 bikes and six scooters, benefited toy drive programs such as Burnet County Santa’s Helpers, Highland Lakes Christmas is for Kids, Liberty Hill Operation Blue Santa, and others.
“It makes us proud to see our employees generously give back with donations for children in our service area,” PEC Community Outreach Specialist Kevyn Packer, who led the toy drive, said in a media release. “We hope these gifts will lift families in need and help make the holidays magical for them.”
Robben Thompson, president of Highland Lakes Christmas is for Kids, expressed gratitude for PEC’s continued support.
“We’re grateful for our corporate donations, including PEC’s, that come directly from employees,” Thompson said. “This is our 34th year providing for children who might not otherwise wake up to presents under the tree, and we’ve always had phenomenal community support with gifts, financial donations, and volunteer hours.”
PEC employees continue to give back each year. In 2024, they donated more than 800 toys to families in need.
“As employees of a cooperative, giving back and caring for our communities comes naturally,” Kendra Acosta, a PEC spokesperson, told DailyTrib. “PEC was created for and by our members, so we’re driven by a purpose to serve our neighbors and communities, and to keep the Hill Country thriving. While this work continues year round, the holidays provide a special opportunity for us to show how much we care.”
