Large turnout for Marble Falls ‘No Kings’ protest

An estimated 400-500 people attended a “No Kings” protest Oct. 18 in Marble Falls on the U.S. 281 bridge.

The demonstration took place from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday. Participants held banners, flags, and signs condemning the perceived “authoritarian” actions of the federal and state governments. There were no reports of violence, injury, agitation, or property damage, according to the Marble Falls Police Department.

While the organizers declared the event non-partisan, it was put together by the Highland Lakes Democratic Women, Burnet County Democrats, and Burnet County Democratic Club. According to a media release from the Burnet County Democratic Party, the protest was entirely volunteer coordinated and funded.

The stated purpose of the protest in the local party’s media release was “resistance to the authoritarian movement of the current administration at the state and national levels.”

The Marble Falls protest was part of a larger, nationwide protest under the No Kings movement, which reported about 7 million participants at over 2,700 events across the country Saturday. This was the second nationwide protest; the first was held June 14 earlier this year.

  1. Incredible turnout, very proud of all that attended. Trump only cares about himself and his billionaire buddies. Long live the real USA!

  2. I think his actions speak louder than his words. If you think he has “worked his tail off”, I am not sure you understand what a hard day of work actually is. I won’t even attempt to answer the “why the protest?” question because if you can’t see it, you probably will never see it. It’s the different ideologies and values that prevent us from understanding each other. I believe in our constitution, I believe in kindness, I believe everyone should be treated equal. I am against fascism. We should all be anti-fascism. Right?

  3. So happy that so many people showed up and protested in a fun and peaceful way!

  4. Uh, I’d say that’s closer to 50 people attending that Hate America rally. Pathetic

  5. As the President said “I’m no king, I work my tail off.” He sure does and I’m thankful for it.
This is not a monarchy so what is the protest?
