Marble Falls (3-3) travels to Burnet (2-4) for the Battle of Burnet County on Friday night. This is also the first District 4-4A Division I game of the season, raising the stakes.
The teams have a longstanding rivalry, and Friday will be the 111th time they have faced off. Mustangs head coach Keri Timmerman and Burnet head coach Ben Speer will be opponents on the field, but they are close friends off the field and hope to keep the game fun.
The Mustangs fell to the Bulldogs 43-7 in the 2024 Battle of Burnet County.
“Burnet and Marble Falls are both really special places to live and to be a part of,” Timmerman told KBEY’s Ben Shields in a tandem interview with Speer. “We want to make it a fun rivalry, and we want to be able to say ‘congrats’ at the end.”
Speer agreed.
“It’s not so much ‘us versus them’ or ‘Burnet versus Marble’, it’s us helping each other,” the Bulldogs coach said. “It’s so valuable these days to find somebody you respect and who does things the right way.”
Marble Falls is coming off its third win this season, which puts them over their 2024 overall record of 2-8. Burnet has struggled this year, holding a current record of 2-4 compared to last year’s non-district tally of 4-2.

The Flames did not play Founders in 2024.
Llano Yellowjackets at Luling Eagles
