Nonprofit organizations in Burnet and Llano counties have until Aug. 31, 2025, to apply for funding through the Highland Lakes Service League’s Community Grants Program. Applications are available online.

Criteria and guidelines include:

  • Applicants must be 501(c)(3) agencies located in Burnet or Llano counties.
  • Funds awarded must be used to serve the needs in those communities.
  • There is no minimum or maximum request. The Service League reserves the right to award amounts less than requested.
  • Nonprofits may apply annually with new project requests.
  • Emergency needs will receive priority attention.
  • Requests will not be considered for fundraising drives, capital campaigns, political campaigns, utility bills, religious projects, or individuals.

Requests for money should be for projects impacting the following areas:

  • Animals—Promoting the protection and welfare of animals.
  • Arts and culture—Cultivating, improving, and increasing access to creative experiences and encouraging artistic expression.
  • Education—Furthering the ability to educate and improve education for people in Burnet and Llano counties.
  • Health and wellness—Promoting access to healthcare to improve the mental and physical health of the community.
  • Human services/basic needs—Providing people in the community with safe housing, nourishing food, loving and qualified caregivers, and the opportunity to reach their highest level of sustainability and success.
  • Recreation and public spaces—Promoting activities that foster community and providing people with experiences in nature and recreation.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

The Highland Lakes Service League supports 501(c)(3) agencies in Burnet and Llano counties through grants and fundraisers. Since 1995, the group has awarded $617,437 to local charitable organizations, raised through its annual Chuck Wagon Chow Down Dinner and Auction.
